Every great brand has an origin story.
Ours starts with a bad joke, a global pandemic, and a love for The Office.
My name is John. I’ve been married to my best friend, Jennifer M. Curiel for 25 years. Together, we’ve raised two incredible kids — our daughter, a Texas State graduate making her mark on the world, and our son, currently studying business finance at Texas State University. We’re proud of them both.
But this story is about us finally betting on ourselves.
For years, my wife and I talked about breaking free from the traditional 9‑to‑5. We wanted to work for ourselves, build something of our own, and stop punching someone else’s clock. Like a lot of people, life stayed busy, comfortable enough, and full of reasons to wait.
Then COVID happened.
Suddenly we had time. We had perspective. And we were officially out of excuses.
So… where did the name come from?
About ten years ago, I was watching The Office — as one does — when Michael Scott mentioned his dream of opening a men’s shoe store called Shoe La La. A place where a man could buy shoes for every important occasion in his life.
I laughed and said, half‑joking,
“I’m going to open a store and call it Dude’s Galore.”
That was the joke. The name itself.
Michael Scott, bless his heart, never quite grasped the unintended implications of things. Neither did I — and that’s exactly the point.
When the world slowed down and we finally decided to take the leap, that joke came back to me. And I thought: what if we actually made it real?
What if Dude’s Galore wasn’t just a punchline?
So we built it.

Dude’s Galore is a men’s grooming store built for the everyday guy.
Not the influencer.
Not the trend‑chaser.
